The Professional Engineer Program Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta has received an Operational Permit. The Professional Engineer Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, UNY was established to carry out the mandate of Law No. 11 of 2014 concerning engineering and the mandate given by the Directorate of Science, Technology and Higher Education No. 673 / CC4 / KL / 2016 concerning the Assignment of the Professional Engineer Study Program at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta which was continued with an operational permit No. 217 / KPT / I / 2017. PSPPI UNY aims to meet the needs of a professional workforce in supporting national development and the challenges of globalization of the workforce in Southeast Asia, Asia Pacific and the world towards the needs of Indonesian engineers who are independent, responsible and have professional ethics and qualifications according to certification standards.

The Professional Engineer Program Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, UNY is ready to accept new students in the 2017/2018 academic year with both the regular registration and the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program. Hopefully this new Professional Engineer Program Study Program contributes in improving the quality of human resources, especially in preparing Professional Engineers to support national development.
